Welcome back to the Western Concept! After a few years absence, it is good to see a student-run, student-led newspaper. Student Senate is very pleased to see all of the hard work from the Student Publications Board bring this project together. This endeavor will be an interesting one.

It has been a busy year for Student Senate, and a productive one at that. Our main focus has been creating a more visible face for the organization. We have pulled some crazy public relations stunts this year, including: setting up a display case in the basement of May Hall, flooding the campus with posters, playing videos before CAB movies (thank you to the DSU Filmmakers), and a live display case (in which your senators actu-ally lived in a display case for a day—my personal favorite). PR Committee has been extremely creative and innovative in their thought processes. Please watch for more ex-cellent work on their part.

As the year comes rapidly to an end, we students can only begin to think about going back home and getting a much needed break from the books. I assure you summer will be here before you know it. I am not sure about you, but I can already feel those warm summer rays.

This year Student Senate has done something to ensure that the wide variety of students that we have from all over the globe will get back home. We started this transi-tion during Christmas break and will be continuing it at the end of the year. We made the decision to help DSU students get from here to home by providing shuttle rides to the Bismarck and Dickinson airports. If you happen to be flying out of Dickinson or Bis-marck at the end of this year, keep your eyes peeled for posters with further instructions.

As the year fades, I begin to prepare to hand over the reigns of my administration to the next set of very fortunate individuals. I want to thank everyone for the great year and the memories that have been made. It has truly been an honor leading the best stu-dent body in the state of North Dakota.

This year has been fun for everyone, but I guarantee that Student Senate still has a few tricks up its sleeve. We will not be “lame-ducking” it by any means! Please be pa-tient for summer’s approach; it will be here soon enough. From our table to yours: rock on!
